The role of sport in the spiritual and intellectual development of the individual is remarkable. The ways, methods and means of developing and implementing this issue have always been an important task for science. This paper examines contemporary learning theory and its previous application in the sportcoaching. Contemporary societies require professionals and citizens who are lifelonglearners, problem solvers, reflective independent learners, and creative and innovative thinkers. Students studying sports are the coaches of the future, that is, potential educators. Therefore, they must constantly monitor innovations in sports pedagogy and be closely familiar with the principles of the training process.
